Three program options or major areas of specialization are routinely offered within the doctoral program: higher education leadership, college administration and college teaching. Within each of these areas, there is sufficient flexibility to fashion a program of study tailored to each student's specific career goals. Students may focus on two- or four-year colleges or some other aspect of post-secondary education.
From time to time, after determining that there is an identified need in the area (Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri), the program faculty members design a specialized curriculum for a cohort of students. In addition to the three areas above, the program has offered cohorts in community college administration, general leadership and faculty leadership.
